Do you want to explore how writing and journaling might help you to process what you’ve been through?
Who is it for?
For women who completed their treatment for primary breast cancer 2+ months ago.
It’s suitable for those who are new to writing or journaling.
What’s the aim of the retreat?
To encourage and help women who’ve had primary breast cancer to use writing as a tool for recovery.
How much does it cost?
Nothing. It’s free.
When and where does it take place?
It’s currently being held via Zoom (so you’ll need a device from which you can access Zoom) and we’re planning to hold 2-3 per year. The next one is due to take place on 13 July 2021 from 9.30am to 1.00pm.
How to register
The journal is well structured with the person in mind, taking account of feelings, emotions. The tasks were well questioned and gave us a sense of control as to what to write and how to express ourselves. Writing has proved to be a very useful tool to overcome my emotions and clear my mind of chaos which helps me to get on with my day.Anonymous
The writing retreat is a collaboration between Ticking Off Breast Cancer, Claudia Knowles and Future Dreams Breast Cancer Charity. Future Dreams is a national breast cancer charity which, alongside fundraising and awareness, supports people going through breast cancer and after they’ve completed treatment. They are a wonderful breast cancer charity based in London but support people around the country. They’ve always focused on fundraising for research and donating to other breast cancer support initiatives but now they’re opening a support centre in central London and revamping their website to provide more support. Collaborating on this writing retreat is just one of many ways that Future Dreams supports people who have had breast cancer or are currently going through breast cancer. If you’d like to find out more about us then their website is www.futuredreams.org.
